Must Have Products for Surviving Baby’s First Year
With my son turning one this month, I have been reflecting back on this past year! It has been the hardest, most rewarding year of my life, hands down.
When I think back to when I was pregnant, I really had NO idea what to put on my registry….
What would I want once he was here? What did I ACTUALLY need?
And spoiler - I didn’t end up needing a lot of things! So to save you some confusion, I compiled a list of the must-have products you ACTUALLY need for surviving baby’s first year.
*Note: I am not affiliated with any of the companies mentioned in this post. Anything mentioned is what I actually used and liked!*
For sleep:
Love to Dream Swaddles: my son loves to sleep with his arms up, so traditional swaddles didn’t work for us! I loved that he had freedom to wiggle around, but was still snug and secure in this
Burt’s Bees Sleep Sacks: once he transitioned out of the swaddle, these were our go-to sleep sacks! They are so soft and organic, and come in so many cute prints!
For feeding:
Haakaa manual pump
Sunflower Lecithin (for mom!): I was super prone to clogs while breastfeeding and this SAVED ME!
Boppy nursing pillow
Burp Cloths
Advent Glass Baby Bottles
Sippy Cup with handles
Silicone bibs
For play:
California Beach Co pop-up tent: great for indoor/outdoor, and super easy to set up/take down! Love having this little space to contain our mobile baby!
Stackable cups and rings
Board books
Skip Hop Activity Center: this can be used as early as 4 months and transitions all the way up to toddlerhood! This was so perfect for us, and our son loved it! Now we are using it as a table with toys for him to play with in his playroom, but he loved sitting in it and spinning around before he could walk!
So there you have it! The items I absolutely needed for surviving baby’s first year. These are the things we used the most, and what worked for us and our baby. Of course, every baby is different and has different personalities, likes and dislikes. So what works for one person doesn’t work for everyone!
If you are in the process of building your registry, I would recommend starting with the fundamentals, and then asking for gift cards so you can buy things as you need them vs. having tons of stuff you don’t use taking up space in your house.
Do you have anything to add to this list? Let me know in the comments!
